A Santa Clara home where a Google software engineer was charged with beating his wife to death has sold for $2.1 million, according to the listing agent.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – A Santa Clara home where a Google software engineer was charged with beating his wife to death has sold for $2.1 million, according to the listing agent.

Listing agent Silvia Tian told KTVU on Thursday that this is a positive move for everyone involved.

“Selling this property is helping everyone move forward,” she said.

When she listed the property at 714 Valley Way, she purposely omitted the January homicide of Xuanyi Yu and the subsequent arrest of her husband, Liren Chen, 27, who was found covered in blood in their home, the Santa Clara County District Attorney said.

Yu was found dead on the bedroom floor with blunt force injuries to her head.

Chen remains in custody without bail.

Both husband and wife worked at Google.

Instead, the Redfin listing boasts the “fairy tale-esque high-pitched roof” and “charming exterior,” and the quick bicycle ride to Apple Park.

But as required by law, Tian said she definitely disclosed the homicide to the new owners, who do not want to be identified.

“Of course!” Tian said when asked. “They didn’t mind. They are a family of medical professionals. They’ve seen many cases of life and death.”

The Mercury News first reported the sale.

Tian said that both Yu and Chen’s families live in China and that the sale of this home will help them both.

She also said that an empty home on a street hurts the neighbors, so she’s glad the new owners have bought it.

Freshly painted Bay Area ‘murder house’ sells for over $2 million

A controversial home listing in Santa Clara County has closed, and it seems that a recent, brutal death in the house didn’t stop the buyers from paying $2.1 million.

The four-bedroom home on the 700 block of Valley Way, Santa Clara, in the heart of Silicon Valley, made the news in January when it was reported that Google employee Xuanyi Yu was bludgeoned to death in a bedroom. Liren Chen, who also worked at Google, was allegedly seen through the window in a blood-spattered room by an acquaintance, who allegedly said that he was “motionless on his knees, had his hands in the air and was staring blankly.” Chen has since been arrested and charged with his wife’s murder. His next court appearance is set for Oct. 4, records show.

Within four months the home had been redecorated and was on the market for $2.12 million — around $70,000 more than the couple bought it for in 2023, records show. The listing, that has gained a reputation as a “murder house,” neglected to mention the deadly violence that recently occurred there, but did note that “the home is freshly painted both inside and out within about a year, and features newer carpet on stairs.”

The home spent only nine days on the market before the seller accepted an offer for the asking price of $2.12 million, but the subsequent escrow period took three months due to complications surrounding the seller being incarcerated, the Mercury News reports. Listing agent Sylvia Tian told the outlet that “an empty house is bad for everybody.”

根據聖荷西水星報報導，疑犯陳立人與他的妻子Xuanyi Yu，在2023年4月以205萬元，購買了這套有四居室兩浴室的房屋，居住不到一年後，命案就發生，但仍然以210萬元成交，房屋升值了3.4%。

該房屋的掛牌訊息，沒有提及屋內曾發生的命案，而是重點關注「童話般的高坡屋頂」，和「迷人的外觀」等細節。

掛牌訊息上還寫着，房子位於聖克拉拉市中心，地理位置優越，可立即入住，騎自行車幾分鐘即可到達Apple Park。

房屋經紀Sylvia Tian表示，如果不出售，這套房子就會喪失抵押品贖回權，而出售它可以避免兩方在中國的、沒有能力支付貸款的家人，在這起命案發生後遭受經濟損失。

房屋經紀還表示，房子在無人居住時，已經被搶劫過兩次，讓新家庭入住會有利於社區。

該房屋於5月上市，僅在市場上待了九天就獲得報價。

這次交易花了近三個月才完成，比通常需要的30天要長得多，這是因為房屋經紀與屋主陳立人的接觸受到限制，陳立人仍被關押在聖塔克拉拉縣監獄，不得保釋。
