3/16/24 Crash Investigation Update
The 20-year-old passenger remains hospitalized but is expected to survive. Crash investigators estimate the vehicle was traveling near 100mph at the time of the crash. The video of the crash very clearly shows the dangers of driving impaired and at excessive speeds. It also shows the importance of wearing your seatbelt. Seatbelts save lives and that was a very big reason all three occupants were able to survive this violent crash. The investigation into the crash remains an active and ongoing investigation.

AAPD responded to a single vehicle crash on 3/16/24 at approximately 4:00am in the area of Plymouth Rd. and Broadway. Officers arriving on scene found the vehicle well off the road in a business’ parking lot and occupied by three subjects. The driver, a 19-year-old female, and one passenger, a 19-year-old female, both suffered minor injuries and were transported to UM ER. A 20-year-old male passenger suffered significant injuries and was also transported to UM Hospital where he is in critical condition. Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash. AAPD was assisted on scene by AAFD and HVA. This is an active and ongoing investigation.

Ann Arbor police release video of high-speed crash
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A 20-year-old man is in critical condition after a car, traveling near 100 mph, flipped and rolled several times and landed in the parking lot of a nearby business.
The Ann Arbor Police Department released a video of the crash that happened last Saturday, March 16, near Plymouth Road and Broadway in Ann Arbor.

Officers arrived on the scene at around 4 a.m. The 19-year-old female driver and a 19-year-old female passenger both were transported to the University of Michigan Hospital with minor injuries.
The 20-year-old male passenger had “significant injuries,” but officials expect him to survive.
Speed and alcohol appear to have contributed to the crash, AAPD said.
“The video of the crash very clearly shows the dangers of driving impaired and at excessive speeds. It also shows the importance of wearing your seatbelt,” AAPD officials said in a social media post Friday.
“Seatbelts save lives and that was a very big reason all three occupants were able to survive this violent crash,” officials went on to say.
The investigation is ongoing.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WILX) – Stunning video provided by the Ann Arbor Police Department shows a vehicle flying through a gas station at nearly 100 miles an hour, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
The crash occurred on March 16, 2024 at 4 in the morning.
The video shows a car speeding towards a gas station at a high rate of speed. The car then catches air before colliding into a pole, spinning as it bounces on the ground, striking nearby property as debris flies. The vehicle just barely misses the gas pump.
Surprisingly, no one was killed. The driver, a 19-year-old girl, and a passenger, another 19-year-old girl, suffered only minor injuries.
A 20-year-old man received serious injuries, but is in the hospital and expected to survive.
Police called the incident an important reminder to wear your seatbelt.

3月21日，中国驻芝加哥总领事馆工作人员表示，近日在美国密歇根州安娜堡发生的一起交通事故中，三名伤者是中国公民，目前均无生命危险。安娜堡警方告诉记者，在这起交通事故中，驾驶员是一名19岁女子，两名乘客分别是一名19岁女子和一名20岁男子。车速过快和酒后驾驶或许是这场车祸发生的原因。

记者另从安娜堡消防部门获悉，事发时有一人被困在车内，伤势严重。消防员用救生钳将其救出。肇事车辆是一辆电动车保时捷Taycan。现场画面显示，涉事车辆受损程度严重，车身变形。
21日，中国驻芝加哥总领事馆工作人员表示，领馆得知发生该交通事故后，第一时间向警方等有关方面了解核实情况，三名当事人是中国公民且均无生命危险。领馆已向有关人员提供领事协助，目前其他情况还在进一步了解中。领馆表示，将继续密切关注领区重大安全事件，全力做好领区中国公民领事保护与协助工作。
