（曼谷29日电）泰国一名地方官员今天说，泰国中部一座佛寺僧侣的毒品检验均未通过，而被解除职务，使得佛寺唱空城。
这名官员说，碧差汶省（Phetchabun）汶桑藩区（Bung Sam Phan）一座佛寺的4名僧侣昨天检测甲基安非他命（又称冰毒）呈阳性反应，包括住持。
官员还说，这些僧人已被送到医疗院所戒毒。
他说：「这座佛寺现在没有僧侣，附近村民担心他们无法做功德。」做功德包括信徒供奉僧侣食物。官员表示，会派出僧侣前往佛寺协助村民。
根据联合国毒品暨犯罪办公室（United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime），毒贩经常利用缅甸掸邦（Shan State）、寮国、泰国的「金三角」走私冰毒。在泰国街道上，只要不到20泰铢就能买到毒品。
东南亚各国当局近年来查获冰毒数量屡创纪录。

A Buddhist temple in central Thailand has been left without monks after all its holy men failed drug tests and were defrocked.

Four monks including an abbot at a temple in Phetchabun province’s Bung Sam Phan district tested positive for methamphetamine on Monday, district official Boonlert Thintapthai told AFP.

The monks have been sent to a health clinic to undergo drug rehabilitation, the official said.

“The temple is now empty of monks and nearby villagers are concerned they cannot do any merit-making,” he said.

Merit-making involves worshippers donating food to monks as a good deed.

Mr Boonlert said more monks will be sent to the temple to allow villagers to practise their religious obligations.

Thailand is a major transit country for methamphetamine flooding in from Myanmar’s troubled Shan state via Laos, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

On the street, pills sell for less than 20 baht (around $0.74).

Authorities across South East Asia have made record meth seizures in recent years.
